Items for a Bachelor Kitchen
Single men and women don't
have to give up great cooking appliances just
because their cooking for one.
Don’t think you need to invest thousands in
expensive kitchen tools just because you are
ready to stop eating out of a box. A
professional chef and instructor has created
this list of kitchen basics. It includes three
essentials every bachelor needs.
Pots and Pans
The standard guy on his own does not need to
invest in a set of 10 pots. The basics that were
suggested include a two quart sauce pan and a
10-inch non-stick sauté pan. It is best to
purchase ones that have been constructed using
stainless steel. You should be able to find a
pan for around $25, with the pot costing even
less. T-fal makes a good line of cookware that
will fit your needs and your budget. (tefal.com)
Cutlery
Resist the temptation to order your cutlery from
a late night infomercial. You should be able to
do just about everything you want with a quality
8 inch stainless steel chef’s knife. It will cut
your steaks and fish, as well as slice your
fruits and vegetables. You can purchase a
Henckels Twin Signature German steel knife for
about $30.
Gadgets
Items that were recommended include a food
processor as a good versatile tool. You can use
it for all your chopping needs, as well as
blending drinks. A great idea is to purchase one
with a built in juicer for maximum flexibility.
A good model is the Cuisinart Pro Plus Food
Processor/Juicer, which can be purchased for
around $120.
