Knife Storage Options
Storage solutions to keep your
sharp kitchen knives safe and secure.
Sharp kitchen knives can create a serious hazard
in the kitchen. Have you ever been afraid to let
anyone reach into your kitchen drawers in case
they get cut? There are safe alternatives for
cutlery storage.
In days gone by most kitchens got by with only
three knives, one for bread slicing, one for
paring, and one for carving. Modern kitchens
require an entire set of knives to complete all
our fillets and chopping needs, on top of the
knives that were already mentioned. Some people
choose to keep each knife in its own sheath or
to place them all in a protective box. While
this type of storage is very safe, it is not
very practical for a busy kitchen.
A great alternative is a knife block. While many
people purchase them as part of a complete set,
it is also possible to find them in all shapes
and sizes to accommodate the knives you already
own. These knife blocks come in a wide selection
of styles, including under cabinet, wood,
plastic, and glass, with some holding up to 20
knives. You can also find blocks with built in
sharpeners and room for kitchen shears.
It is worth the investment to keep your family
safe and stop being afraid of your kitchen
drawers.
